Relaina Trueblood wasn't always so happy. No, there was a time when she was horribly depressed...like everyone else in RhyDin. She's never had a real family, they all passed on when she was just a babe. Her mother, a White Witch, was eventually betrothed to her father, a shape-shifting Ice Dragon...isn't it interesting how animals shift so easily nowadays?...10 months after their wedding, they were blessed with a baby girl: Relaina.
Sometime after Relaina's birth, her parents met their fate. She once believed that they were killed by a Dragon slayer...but that was hardly the case. Her mother caught pneumonia shortly after her birth. Not even she could find a spell that would rid her of the illness. After she passed, Relaina's father slowly withered away. He would not eat..he would not sleep...all he did was grieve over the death of his wife, visiting her preserved body every day within the tomb he had built for her.
Two months after her mother's passing, Relaina's father died. She was still young, and couldn't possibly understand what was going on in her life. All she knew was that the two people that were closest to her were now nowhere to be found. Her uncle was to take care of her from then on, until she was old enough to care for herself.

Relaina spent the next 16 years with her uncle, loving every minute of it. Naturally, she grew up a tomboy. She climbed trees with him, swam through lakes with him, stayed up late at night chatting about hunting with him...all the things a young woman of her status in life shouldn't do. It was because of him she received her first piercing...her right eyebrow. She still wears the ring he had given to her. Her uncle was killed six months after her birthday, and she wept for days. Not being able to stand being by herself, she gathered her things and began the long trek to RhyDin.
Once Relaina finally made it to RhyDin, she took her residence working as an apprentice for a magician in the town. He kept her clothed, fed, and with a roof over her head for quite some time. This is where she met her best friend, Zera Blade, a vampire of the clan Brujah.

One morning, Relaina woke to find the magician gone. All that was left was his spell book, and his cloak. Odd as she found this, she took the cloak and book thinking it could help her one day.
